In addition to rent payments, here is a list of other permitted charges in accordance with the Tenant Fee Act 2019:

Before the tenancy starts you will be required to pay a tenancy deposit of no more than the equivalent of 5 weeks rent. For joint student tenancies, the deposit amount tends to be £200 per person but please check the advert for any variations.

  • Contract amendments made at the tenant’s request which are agreed by the landlord are £50.00 including VAT per variation. This includes changes to occupants, permission for pets to be kept at the property, permission to sub-let, or any other amendment which alters the obligations of the agreement.
  • Rent payments overdue by 14 days or more are subject to interest charges at no more than 3% above the Bank of England’s annual percentage rate for each day that the payment is outstanding.
  • Reasonable costs associated with lost key(s), lock change(s) or security device(s).
  • Contractual damages in the event of the tenant’s default of a tenancy agreement.
  • Any other permitted payments not mentioned above under the Tenant Fees Act 2019 and regulations applicable at the relevant time.
