Igloo Ice Blast – March 2020

As the months rush by, and students look to their end of year submissions in Sheffield, here at Igloo Accommodation we want to provide more than your housing, by giving you a monthly round up of some of the best places to visit, hidden student hotspots, and tricks to save money on your nights out! We’ve also provided a round up of some of Sheffield’s biggest and best club nights and events, so make sure you check that out at the bottom. This month’s Igloo Ice Blast is all about the heart of Sheffield’s town culture: The Moor.

Sheffield Spotlight – The Moor

The Moor runs through the centre of Sheffield’s retail district. A pedestrianised thoroughfare, The Moor is home to numerous entertainment, food and drink, retail and even fitness shops, not to mention it has its own market! Here’s a little more about Sheffield’s core.

The Moor Market

The Moor Market is one of the UK’s best indoor markets. Home to over 90 independent traders, the Moor Market provides a wealth of opportunity for a spot of retail therapy or picking up home essentials. With over 10 butchers serving the freshest cuts in South Yorkshire, including rabbit and goat – very popular on the student menu, of course – and numerous bakeries, delicatessens, and fishmongers, the food options are unrivalled. Global cuisine also populates space within the market, opened in 2013 after a huge development of the area, alongside stalls for all your needs including foot ware, clothing, and more. The Moor Market is certainly worth a visit.

Retail for every occasion

Need something cheap? There’s a TJ Hughes. Something for those Wednesday night socials to dress up but not spend a lot? Primark is the one. Fancy some new shoes for the weekend? JD Sports will sort you out. Whatever you need, it’s on The Moor. Big names like H&M and Next have got it all for those summer buys, for when the heat finally comes around. For your in-home entertainment, GAME and EE are your tech savvy experts in waiting. Long time legend Debenhams are on hand for it all, whether you require Euros or a new sweater. The retail options are endless, so go and have a gander at what’s on offer.

Food & Drink

Now, lets get to the important bit! Coffee fans are well suited, as there is a Costa Coffee, Caffè Nero, and the lovely Caffè Massarella to provide for all of your caffeinated requirements. If it’s a little more than a coffee that you require, then grab a sausage roll from Greggs (vegan options are available) or Poundbakery, plus a Krispy Kreme to provide for those sweet desires. For a full on meal, Nando’s can sort you out, as can Pizza Express, Zizzi, and Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Tasty!

Entertainment for all

The Light has brought a new level of comfort to cinema in Sheffield, with the most plush cinema seating around. 9 screens and all of the new releases make The Light well worth a visit! On the other side of the walkway from the entrance to the food court and cinema is the newly opened Lane 7. They roll ten-pin bowling, ping pong, pool, beer pong, batting cages, darts and an unrivalled atmosphere in the mix with stellar food and drink options for a great evening to spend with friends or family.

A day out down at The Moor is exactly what you need to de-stress from the end of year pressure at university, so head down and see what you think for yourself! That’s this months Igloo Ice Blast, see you next month!
